Freelancers who quickly find those jobs that best match their skills will submit their proposals first, increasing their chances of being hired.
Also, finding suitable projects quickly will give you more time to dedicate to paid activities.
Defining a method for your job search is key to establish routines and focus your energy on the most productive path.
Our posts this month will be dedicated to helping you prioritize and focus your searches, optimizing your time and chances of success.

Use basic and advanced searches
You can start with a very general search (kind of what a basic Google search would look like), and move into the advanced search feature (like the one offered by Upwork) to select:
- the exact phrases,
- some or all the words that must be included (or excluded), or
- the specific fields where you want your search to focus on (such as the project title or the required skills).
Define your filters
In Freelancer, you can select:
- The type of project (hourly or fixed budget),
- the client’s budget, and
- the client’s location.
In addition, Upwork let’s you also filter by:
- Level of experience,
- client’s history,
- job posting activity,
- required dedication, and
- estimated project duration.
